WaveFlush.
A hands-free toilet flushing device using ultrasonic and infrared sensors to detect user presence or gesture and trigger an automatic flush.
The problem.
Manual flush handles are a hygiene concern in shared and public restrooms. Existing touchless systems are expensive, proprietary, and difficult to retrofit onto existing plumbing. WaveFlush solves this with a compact, affordable module that adds hands-free flushing to any standard toilet.
How it works.
WaveFlush uses a combination of ultrasonic distance sensing and infrared detection to determine user presence. When the user steps away or waves their hand over the sensor, the device triggers the flush mechanism via a servo-driven actuator.
Design goals.
The device had to be waterproof, compact enough to mount discreetly, and reliable enough to function thousands of cycles without maintenance. The enclosure is designed to resist moisture and the sensor calibration auto-adjusts to different bathroom environments.
